Dog Training in Marinette, WI

By Rochelle Anderson, Mighty Pet  |  Marinette WI, Menominee MI, Peshtigo WI

If you’re looking for dog training in Marinette WI that actually sticks past the first week, you’ve probably already tried the free advice route… a few videos, a training collar someone recommended at the feed store, maybe a friend’s opinion on what your puppy “just needs.” Sometimes that’s enough. A lot of the time it isn’t.

Mighty Pet runs dog training out of our Menominee location, taught by Meghan M. Smith, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Not a hobbyist who trained her own dogs and decided to charge for it. Certified, tested, and accountable to a national body that actually checks the work.

Mighty Pet offers dog training in Marinette WI and Menominee MI through Meghan M. Smith, CPDT-KA. Options include Open Enrollment Foundation Manners group classes (standing, all year, Monday or Wednesday), private 1-on-1 sessions, and seasonal workshops and skills classes on topics like place training, polite greetings, and go-anywhere manners. New group students start at $165 for a private orientation plus 5 weekly classes.

What Training Options Does Mighty Pet Actually Offer?

We don’t run one program and call it training. Different dogs and different owners need different formats, so we built a few:

Open Enrollment Foundation Manners

Our standing group class, running all year, Mondays at 5 PM or Wednesdays at 10 AM. This is the core class… reinforcement marker, impulse control, sit, down, recall. Open enrollment means lessons flex to fit your dog and your goals as you go, instead of locking everyone into the same six-week script.

Private 1-on-1 sessions

Some dogs and some households need one-on-one time before a group setting makes sense, or need a plan built entirely around a specific issue. Meghan builds those sessions around your dog directly. Private training rates are set with Meghan based on what your dog needs, so ask her directly for a quote before you book.

Workshops and Skills Classes

Shorter, focused sessions on a specific skill… place training, polite greetings, trick work, car safety, and more advanced skills classes like nosework or go-anywhere manners when they’re running. These are seasonal and change through the year, so check with Meghan for what’s currently open.

Who Is Meghan, and Why Does Her Certification Matter?

Meghan M. Smith has been with Mighty Pet since 2017 and trains full-time out of our Menominee location. She’s a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, earned in September 2018.

That certification means something specific. CPDT-KA isn’t a weekend course or a certificate you print off a website. It requires documented hands-on training experience before you’re even eligible to sit for the exam, a proctored test on learning theory and training science, and ongoing continuing education credits to keep the certification current. It’s the credential most reputable trainers point to when they’re asked to prove they know what they’re doing, not just claim it. Professional organizations like the Association of Professional Dog Trainers also require ongoing continuing education for members, the same standard behind Meghan’s certification.

When you sign up for training at Mighty Pet, you’re working with someone who had to prove it. That’s the whole reason it’s worth mentioning.

Who We Are

Our team completes internal Pet Care Technician training, and Meghan holds her CPDT-KA certification on top of that. Eagle Herald Best of the Best, 14 consecutive years. We’re not going anywhere.
