With a background as a licensed veterinary technician and horse trainer, Meghan moved into dog training and never looked back. She holds both her CPDT-KA certification and a certificate from Michael Shikashio’s Aggression In Dogs master course. At Mighty Pet since 2017, Meghan has been central to building our training programs and leads our group classes, workshops, and private training. She keeps up with 36 hours of continuing education every 3 years to stay current on the latest techniques. Outside of work, Meghan enjoys upland hunting, canicross, and bikejoring with her husband and four dogs… and she trains and competes in dog sports herself.
The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) is the premier authority for certifying dog training and behavior professionals worldwide. As a private, not-for-profit organization, CCPDT sets the global standard for rigorous exams that demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based training practices.
Skhyler earned her certification as an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer (ABCDT) in 2021 and is currently working toward her CPDT-KA accreditation. She got her start in 4-H obedience trials as a kid, and that early experience grew into a genuine passion for dog training. She takes pride in helping owners build strong, functional relationships with their dogs. Outside of Mighty Pet, Skhyler trains and competes in dog sports with her Border Collie, Yahtzee, and spends her free time outdoors with her husband and children, often on the family dairy farm.
Animal Behavior College is a respected credential for dog trainers because of its comprehensive curriculum, hands-on experience, and focus on modern, science-based training methods. Graduates demonstrate real expertise, giving clients confidence in their training quality.

Our lead trainer is Meghan Smith, CPDT-KA, with Mighty Pet since 2017. She’s joined by Skhyler Shallow, ABCDT. Both trainers hold nationally recognized certifications and continue their education every year.
